You can choose either the short wheelbase two-door model or the long wheelbase four-door Unlimited model. For 2013 the Wrangler comes with the Pentastar Variable Valve Timing V6 which was one of Ward's 10 Best Engines for 2012. The Pentastar provides impressive power with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, and despite that power, it can get up to 9.3L/100KM (30 MPG). This fuel economy comes from an engine with some innovative engineering features that include improved air intake for more torque, optimized downpipes for better torque response, and a high mounted alternator to make water fording easier and safer. There's also a big 600-watt cooling fan to keep the engine cool even under serious strain.

The new Wrangler Sport or Sahara get a two-speed transfer case for part-time four-wheel-drive capability and better handling and smoother operation on the road. The Rubicon gets the upgraded Rock-Trac Transfer Case that features an ultra-low 4:1 ratio and Tru-Lok front & rear locking differentials, sway bar disconnect, and heavy duty sold front axle.

Every one of the current Wrangler models is Trail Rated by Jeep, which means they've been through and passed a series of rigorous tests to make sure they can handle anything. The process includes tests for traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation, and water fording.
